UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup kicked-off in Season 2023/2024

6 November 2023

Toyo Tire Holdings of Europe continues the Partnership with UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup for the third year in a row.

As in previous years, the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup started the new season in the USA again this year. There will be 14 rounds in total of the popular cycling race again this year, of which 13 will be held within Europe. In the season 2023/2024, 29 Teams with 197 riders in total are registered. Toyo Tire Holdings of Europe GmbH is supporting the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup as a sponsor for the third time in a row in season 2023/2024.

The first race of this season's UCI Cycloo-Cross World Cup took place on October 15th in Waterloo, USA. While world champion Fem van Empel clearly won the women's elite class, the men's race was exciting. Eli Iserbyt initially took the lead. But after a shoe problem, Eli Iserbyt had to make up 20 seconds on Thibou Nys and Pim Ronhaar to win. He was able to work his way back to second place. However, the race was won by Thibou Nys.

The second race took place on October, 29th in Maasmechelen, Belgium. In the Womens Elite, the world champion van Empel was once again able to take the lead very early on and took first place for the second time this season. In the Men's Elite class, things got exciting again, as Michael Vanthourenhout took the lead at the start but was unable to pull away from Ronhaar. After Michael Vanthourenhout and Pim Ronhaar entered the pit lane, Eli Iserbyt took the lead and battled with Thibou Nys and Lars van der Haar for first place. In the end, Lars van der Haar was able to take the lead and claimed victory. Eli Iserbyt once again took second place this season.

The next race will take place on November, 12th in Dendermonde, Belgium. We are curious to see whether world champion Fem van Empel will top the leaderboard again this year and how the Mens Elite will continue.
